Vincent Robert Gallucci, 80, of Rockaway, formerly of Bloomfield and Newark, died Saturday, October 7, 2017.
Born in Newark, he was the son of Vincent Robert Gallucci and Florence Gallucci McDonnell. Raised in Newark, he graduated Bloomfield Tech High School before becoming a carpenter. He first worked for Branchbrook Building Supply in Newark before entering the Carpenters Union. He spent his career building beautiful kitchen cabinets and completing perfectly-cut millwork before retiring in 1993.
As a teenager, he was introduced to Lorraine Velardi at a local baseball game. After 7 years of dating, they married in 1960, and together raised three children in Newark and Bloomfield. They retired to Fox Hills in Rockaway in 2005, where they were active members of the Italian Club.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine; his children, Vincent Gallucci Jr. and his wife Nicole, Cheryl Rosano and her husband Joseph, and Lisa Velella and her husband Ronald; his sister, Anita Garon and her husband Frank; and his grandchildren, Alex Velella, Georgeanne Velella, Joseph Rosano, Jack Velella, Anthony Rosano, Valerie Rosano, Isabella Gallucci, and Vincent Gallucci. He was predeceased by his brothers, Robert Gallucci and William McDonell.
Visiting hours will be Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 pm at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be held 11 am Tuesday at Our Lady of Good Counsel RC Church, Pompton Plains. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover.
