Barbara E. Okken

Barbara E. Okken, 83, of Oak Ridge, NJ passed away on February 8th, 2018.


A 60-year resident of Pompton Plains, Barbara lived in Walnutport, PA before moving to Oak Ridge, NJ three years ago. She was an active member of the Free Reformed Church of Pompton Plains for many years where she enjoyed participating in Ladies Society and Vacation Bible School. More recently she was a faithful member of the Pompton Plains Reformed Bible Church where she participated in women's bible study and attended Supper Club.Barbara was a dedicated mother and homemaker whoalso worked alongside her husband performing bookkeeping duties for their dry-cleaning businesses. In her free time, she was often found knitting and crocheting, she also enjoyed vacationing in Topsail Island, NC for many years. She was a loyal supporter of her children and grandchildren in their many sporting endeavors. She was best known for her quiet, gentle demeanor and sweet temperament. She was cherished by her sons and their wives and adored by her grandchildren.


Barbara is survived by her sons, Mark and his wife PaulaSue of Thomasville, NC, Daryl and his wife Michele of Hellertown, PA, Scott and his wife Janet of Butler, NJ, Brian and his wife Jessica of Oak Ridge, NJ, her brother, Harold Delhagen and his wife Donna of Montrose, PA. She is also survived by her 14 grandchildren, Christopher and his wife LaNae, Paul, Timothy, Keith, Jason, Elyssa, Meghan, Jennifer Diaz and her husband Gonzalo, Jeffrey, Jessica Sullivan and her husband Paul, Chase, Colton, Ciana, and Carsen. She was predeceased by her husband, Fred and her brother Robert.


Visiting hours will be held Monday February 12thfrom 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, in Pompton Plains. A funeral service will be held Tuesday February 13th at 10 am at the Pompton Plains Reformed Bible Church. Interment will follow at the First Reformed Church Cemetery in Pompton Plains.


In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Barbara's memory to the Chilton Medical Center Foundation or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and would be greatly appreciated by her family.
