Mary Mavrikios, (91), of Ocean Township, passed away on February 21, 2018.
Mary was born in Kyrenia, Cyprus. She came to America in 1952 accompanied by her two eldest daughters and her mother. She worked as an insurance agent and alongside her husband in a family owned delicatessen in New York and Teaneck, NJ. In her later years she opened a family owned business in Jefferson, NJ called Mary's Pasta Plus. She was involved in the Greek Orthodox Church but her greatest love was for her family and children.
Mary is survived by her daughter Demetra Papadopoulos and her husband Andreas Papadopoulos, daughter Nina Kordulak and daughter Faith Grill and her husband James Grill. Grandchildren Van Papadopoulos, Ted Papadopoulos, Christopher Kordulak, Maria Gates, Elissa Doran and James Grill. Great grandchildren Gabby, Nico and Charlotte Papadopoulos, Valentina Papadopoulos, Madison Gates and Hayden Kordulak. Mary was predeceased by her husband Angelis Mavrikios, her mother Theopisti Theofanus, her brothers Gus and Sam Theofanus, her sister Helen Theofanus and son-in-law Jerome Kordulak.
Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 6 pm Sunday, February 25 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. A funeral service will be held 11 am Monday at St. Andrew's Greek Orthodox Church, Randolph. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
In lieu of flowers, we would like donations to be made in Mary's memory to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
