Darlene VanLuvender, 72, a longtime resident of Oak Ridge, passed away on March 4, 2018.
Born and raised in Midland Park, Darlene was the daughter of the late Richard and Jennie Streelman. She was an avid bowler who played in many leagues, and an awawrd-winning equestrian who won numerous championships in barrel racing. Her love for animals continued into her career and Darlene worked as a veterinarian technician at Nutley Animal Hospital for 30 years. She volunteered at several zoos, including the Colorado Zoo, where she took care of the large animals with veterinarians and staff. In 1998, Darlene's lifelong dream came true when she was able to travel to Africa and participate in an African Safari.
Darlene is survived by her aunt, Jeanette Farnan; her cousin, Michelle Abdinoor and her husband Michael; their children, Meghan and Matthew; and her cousin, Finley Snyder. She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond E. VanLuvender.
A graveside service will be held at 10 am Friday, March 16 at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
