John Anthony Yuskaitis

John Anthony Yuskaitis, 86, of Sparta, formerly of Bergenfield and Fair Lawn, died Sunday, January 3, 2021.

John is lovingly survived by his sons: John, Joseph and his wife Cindy Jo, Christopher, Gregory and his wife Cynthia, Peter and his wife Lori, Paul and Timothy; his siblings: Ona Kehoe, Anthony Joseph, Mary Schneider and Joseph Yuskaitis; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son, Jeffrey, and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth.

Born in Fair Lawn, John was raised in Paterson, and was a graduate of St. John’s Cathedral High School. He went on to study at the Rutgers College of Pharmacy in Newark before entering a long career in the field.

After a brief time at the Trenton Pharmacy, John was drafted to serve in the Army, and was stationed at Fort McClellan in Alabama. Newly married, John’s wife, Frances, joined him on base, and their first two sons were born there. As one of several Pharmacists on base, John first served as a laboratory technician before serving as a Pharmacist during his second year.

Returning to New Jersey after being honorably discharged, John and Frances settled in Fair Lawn, and welcomed six more sons to their family. John worked as a Pharmacist for several pharmacies throughout his career: Lloyd's Prescriptions in Ridgefield Park, Schneider Pharmacy in Englewood, and Morse's Pharmacy in Closter, and concluded his final years in the profession working for a long-term care facility in Westwood.

John was a longtime member of the Bergen County Pharmaceutical Society, where he served as President for several years. He was also an active member of the NJ Pharmacists Association, and served as a trustee for many years. John greatly enjoyed his career, and most favorably looks back upon his time teaching student nurses at St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in the mid-1950s.

John was a parishioner of Our Lady of Fatima Chapel in Pequannock since its inception, and found great comfort in their celebration of the Latin Tridentine Catholic Mass.

A wake will be held 4-8 pm Thursday, January 14, 2021 at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be held 10:30 am Friday, January 15 at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, Pequannock. Burial will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Priestly Fraternity of St. Peter would be greatly appreciated by the Yuskaitis family.
