Ruth A. Bauer, 89, of Pompton Plains, passed away on February 10, 2021.
Ruth was born to Ivor and Julia Carlson and grew up in Clifton, NJ. She moved to Pompton Plains when she was 14 years old and settled in the home that her father had built for the family. When she met her late husband Charles, the two knew they wanted to be together and married in 1958 after dating for a short period of time. The couple raised their two sons, Karl and Todd, in Pompton Plains. When Ruth’s father died, her career in Real Estate began and she was a Commercial Real Estate Manager for Bauer Associates until 2015.
Ruth loved waterskiing and worked as an instructor in her earlier years. She enjoyed traveling, having visited many European countries, but her favorite place to visit was the Caribbean islands. Ruth was a strong woman and made sure her family was taken care of. Her biggest accomplishment in life was having a loving family and two sons that she raised to be self-sufficient. Ruth motivated and supported her family to reach their dreams and goals but was also orderly in the her household. She was small but mighty. She was humbled by the struggles she had endured in her life because they made her a better and stronger woman. She was generous, and a gracious host and friend. Anyone who entered her home always felt welcomed and well cared for. She will be forever missed by all who knew her, even her landscapers who were always greeted with a refreshing glass of iced tea.
Ruth is survived by her two sons Todd Bauer, Karl Bauer and his wife Deana and their son Karlson Taylor Bauer. She was predeceased by her husband Charles F. Bauer, Jr.
The family will receive visitors from 10 am to 11:30 am on Saturday, February 13 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home. A funeral service will conclude the visitation at 11:30 am. Burial will follow at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth's memory can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
