Rudolph R. Gregg “Rudy” , 90, passed away January 20, 2022
Rudy was employed by the city of Clifton for the Police and Fire Alarm Signal System for 30 years. He was a disabled veteran in the Korean war working as a combat medic. He was a proud veteran and commander of DAV for many years.
Rudy was a member of VFW Post 7165 of Clifton. He served as vice commander in the American Legion. He was a big Yankee fan and coached baseball and basketball in Clifton for many years. He also played baseball in semi-professional league. One of Rudy’s proud moments was when he was announced as Man of the Year for the City of Clifton in 1985.
Rudolph is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Frieda of Pompton Plains; son Robert Gregg and wife Gisela; daughter Tracey Lombardi and husband Joseph; son William Gregg and wife Karen; son Martin Gregg and wife Lee Ann; daughter Kelly Marciano and husband Patrick; his grandchildren, Cathy Simone, Dorothy Foley, Shanon Gregg, Fallyn Colaianni, Anthony Marciano, Barbara Gregg, William Gregg, Francis Viola, Robert Gregg, Sarah Gregg, and Jasmine Gregg; step grandchildren, Vincent Lombardi and Rebecca Gustaldi; and great-grandchildren, Amanda, Michael, Aleena, Jared, Sariah, Layla, Aiden, Gavin, Braydee, Dominic, Anthony, and Elijah. He is also survived by his sister Virginia Lukashefski. Rudy is predeceased by his granddaughter Kimberly Viola in 2018.
There will be a visitation Saturday January 22, 2022 at the New Apostolic Church, Parsippany NJ from 11am-1pm. A funeral service will follow at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Wounded Warrior Project. Cremation will be private.
