Anthony G Giacoio

Anthony G. Giacoio of Kinnelon, NJ passed peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Friday, September 16th 2022. He was 83.  

 

Born February 12th 1939 at Westchester Square Medical Center in the Bronx, New York to Frank and Dora Giacoio, from Muro Lucano, Italy. 

 

Following his high school graduation from Mount St. Michael Academy in the Bronx, Anthony attended Manhattan College earning a Bachelor’s of Electrical Engineering (BEE) where he was a distinguished member of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, Institute of Radio Engineers, Society of Military Engineers and the Newton Mathematical Society. Anthony was inducted into the Beta Zeta Chapter of Eta Kappa Nu, an Engineering Honor Fraternity where he graduated amongst the top of his class at New York University with a Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1962.  He later attended Columbia University’s PHD program.

 

After a career in the field of Electrical Engineering, he entered the family business, Capezio, where his father worked.  Anthony served as CEO and on the Board of Directors of Capezio for many years before his retirement. He loved the family business, his partners and most of all the employees who have become a part of his extended family throughout the years. After retiring, he enjoyed his visits to the offices and warehouse to catch up with the employees and check in on their lives and families.  

 

Anthony was licensed to serve as a U.S. Merchant Marine Officer in 2000, when he obtained his Captain’s License.  He was an avid boater who loved cruising both the Barnegat Bay at the Jersey shore, as well as the Chesapeake Bay.   

 

A true family man who always put his family first, Anthony is survived by his wife, Louise (Trocchio) Giacoio and four children; Lisa Giacoio, Dianne Giacoio, Anthony Giacoio Jr. with his wife Melissa Giacoio, Louisa Colaiacovo and husband Michael Colaiacovo.  In addition, Anthony is blessed with 10 beautiful grandchildren: Nicole Adamo, Timothy Egan Jr., Patrick Egan, Samantha Matthews, Carly Giacoio, Dante Colaiacovo, Alexa Giacoio, Louis Colaiacovo, Anthony F. Giacoio and Louis (Louie) Koulouvaris.

 

Visitation will be held at Scanlan Funeral Home 781 Newark Pompton Turnpike, Pompton Plains, NJ 07444 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm and 7:00pm - 9:00pm on Sunday, September 18th 2022.

 

A Funeral Mass celebrating the life and legacy of Anthony Giacoio will be held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church 17 Pompton Ave. Pompton Lakes, NJ 07442 at 11:00am on Monday, September 19th 2022.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome) Foundation, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society or The St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
