Joe was born in Ashland, Pennsylvania on November 4, 1941 to the late Andrew and Antimi (Eavarone) Quiles. Joe spent much of his childhood in Pennsylvania until he moved to Paterson, NJ in his middle school years. Joe graduated from Central High School in Paterson in 1959. During his senior year of high school he began working at Kresge’s Department store where he met his future wife, Carole. Joe attended William Paterson University for both his undergraduate and graduate studies. While in college, Joe taught science at Saint Bonaventure High School in Paterson. He then taught one year at Central High School in Paterson, before going on to teach at West Brook Middle School in Paramus as a math and science teacher. He remained there until his retirement in 2007.
Joe was married to his beloved wife, Carole for over 55 years. They were the proud parents of three children and the even prouder grandparents of six grandchildren. For Joe, his family was everything. He lived his life with love and generosity. Joe lived in Woodland Park for almost 50 years before moving to Pequannock in 2021.
Joe was predeceased by his loving wife, Carole (Bordonaro). He was the cherished father to Tracey Monsko and her husband Marc, Robert Quiles and his wife Tori, and Robyn Vetter and her husband Gregg. Joe was the beloved grandfather to Joseph, Nicole and Carly Monsko, Ryan and Briana Vetter and Gabriella Quiles. He was the dear brother to Mary Ann Pepe and dear brother-in-law to Janice Cusack. Joe is also survived by his niece and two nephews.
Visiting hours will be from 12-3 PM on Sunday, March 19, 2023 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home in Pompton Plains. A service will conclude the visitation. Cremation will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joe's memory to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital or the Pequannock First Aid Squad.
