Joyce L. Canfield, 89, of Pequannock, passed away on February 10, 2021.
Joyce was one of two children born to Clarence and Florence Lockwood. She graduated from Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood and later pursued her interest in fashion by attending the Tobe Coburn Design School. She married William Canfield in 1954 and the couple enjoyed 57 years of marriage before William’s passing in 2012. An active member of her community, Joyce volunteered for the Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Band Parents and Dial-A-Ride. She was a 50 year member of the First Reformed Church in Pompton Plains where she served as an elder and was active with the Womens Guild. She and William also managed the church cemetery for many years. After William’s retirement, they traveled extensively with Janet and Willard Humphrey, visiting every continent except Antarctica. Joyce will be remembered as a loving and strong woman who gave back to her community.
Joyce is survived by her children, Beth Mullen and her husband Michael) and Rick Canfield and his wife Jenny; her sister, Janet Humphrey; her grandchildren, Kyle, Dave, Stu and Brynne. Joyce was predeceased by her husband, William in 2012. A memorial service will be held 1 pm on Saturday, February 27, 2021 at the First Reformed Church.
