Obituary of Lydia A Occhipinti
Lydia was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina. She married Joseph Occhipinti and the couple moved to the US and settled in Paterson. They both became citizens in 1993.
Lydia was a teacher in Argentina. When she came to the USA, she studied at Montclair State College and became a spanish adjunct teacher. She loved traveling with her husband to Argentina, Italy, Mexico, the Bahamas, Las Vegas, Myrtle Beach, Disney World, and Miami. She enjoyed cooking and watching game shows and spanish soap operas.
Lydia is survived by her daughters, Rita Sarubbi and her husband Richard and Natalie Reitz and her husband Ed; her sister, Margarita Lubo; and her grandchildren, Maria, Samantha, and Joey Sarubbi, and Jessica, Renee, John, and Eddie Reitz.
Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 8 pm Friday, February 26 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. A funeral Mass will be held 10 am Saturday at Our Lady of Good Counsel RC Church, Pompton Plains. Entombment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
