Ming Lee

Obituary of Ming C. Lee

Ming “Charles” Lee, 56, of Kinnelon, NJ, passed away on October 25, 2021.

The middle child of five, Ming was born to Ah Ngau and Sun Kiu in Hong Kong and moved to the US in 1970. He grew up in Hatboro, PA, where he and his family ran a successful Chinese restaurant named Toy Sun. When he was a teenager, Ming embarked on a solo trip to Florida to witness an Apollo space launch, a tale he would recount in his personal statement to Massachusetts Institute of Technology, his dream school. After graduating from MIT with a bachelor’s in aerospace systems engineering, Ming went on to enjoy a career in healthcare finance as an investment banker for 35 years.

When he was not dedicating time to his family or his work, Ming liked to travel, eat, and spend time down the shore. He had a fondness for comic books, movies, music, and, later, puzzles. Ming was an adventurer at heart; even in the face of his illness, he completed his scuba diving recertification, drove cross-country, and hiked the perilous Angel’s Landing in Zion National Park.

Ming is survived by his wife, Gilda; his sons, Logan and Ryan; his shih-poo, Mabel; and his countless beloved family, colleagues, and friends.

A gathering for Ming will be held at 1pm in M. John Scanlan Funeral Home on Sunday, October 31, with a prayer at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations kindly be made to the Lustgarten Foundation for pancreatic cancer research. As Ming liked to say: “Kick pancreASS!”
