Obituary of Richard Taylor Brown
Richard Taylor Brown, 90, of Pompton Plains, formerly of Kinnelon, passed away on October 26, 2021.
Born in Oakland, CA, Richard was the son of the late Leonard and Elizabeth Brown. He graduated from UC Berkeley and enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1955, proudly serving until 1967 and earning the rank of Captain. While stationed in Mississippi, Richard met Martha Ann Payne. The couple married and had three children. Sadly, Martha passed away in 1973. Richard found love again on a beach in Jamaica when he met Gail Fisher. The couple settled in Kinnelon where they spent many happy years together.
Richard worked as a corporate pilot and loved planes, trains, and sports cars. He was also a talented big band drummer.
Richard is survived by his wife, Gail; his children, Richard Taylor Brown, Jr. and his wife Sue Garner, Karen Bagshaw and her husband Tim, and Leonard Brown; his granddaughters, Alyssa Orenczak and her husband Devon, Rebecca Brown, and Katherine Brown; and his great granddaughter, Dylan Jade.
Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 8 pm Saturday, October 30 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard’s memory to the Michael J.Fox Foundation would be greatly appreciated by his family.
