Obituary of Margaret Sailer

Margaret Sailer, 101, of Pompton Plains, formerly of Wayne, died Sunday, November 7, 2021.

Born Sept. 24, 1920 in Whitesboro, NY, she was the daughter of Frederick and Margaret Clark. After graduating from Englewood School of Nursing, she worked at Hackensack Hospital on the maternity floor as head nurse for 30 years.

While in nursing school she met her husband, Russell. They were married for 57 Years.

The couple resided in Wayne for almost 40 years raising 4 children. After retiring the couple enjoyed spending half their time at their condo in Florida where they both enjoyed golfing.

After her husband passed away Margaret went on to live at Cedar Crest for the last 20 years, where she was involved in several activities such as singing in the choir, a trip to Iceland, and plays in New York City. Being 101 years old, she enjoyed many happy gatherings and holidays with her family, including her recent birthday.

She is survived by her children, Connie Smith of Texas, Larry Sailer of Kinnelon, and Jayne Baldi of Wayne; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nine nieces and nephews; and her brother-in-law, Clifford Sailer of Rockaway. She was predeceased by her daughter, Barbara Parthasrathy.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday from 2-4 pm at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home in Pompton Plains. A Memorial Service will be held at 4 pm to conclude visitation. Cremation will be private.
