Obituary of Rocco A Ciano

Rocco Antonio Ciano, 82, of Pequannock, New Jersey died on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 peacefully at home.

Rocco was born to Concetta and Antonio Ciano on August 8, 1939, in Bianco, Reggio Calabria, Italy. He met his beautiful wife in the summer of 1963. They were married in February 1964 and migrated here in September and after many moves settled in Pequannock in 1974. Rocco became an entrepreneur and ran his own mechanic shop and used car dealership, Ciano Service Center in Garfield, NJ for over 50 years. He was a parishioner of Holy Spirit Parish and loved Jesus. He attended church every morning and served as a eucharistic minister, sung in the church choir and administered communion to the patients at Chilton Hospital. He built his life surrounding his friends and loved ones and enjoyed church events, field trips, and prayer meetings. He was a master at fixing cars and worked incredibly hard for his family and finally retired in 2010. He loved making homemade wine, playing his guitars, singing, playing cards, planting his vegetables, tending to his garden including his favorite fig tree, and gathering with family. He was a loving and amazing father to his kids and absolutely adored being with and playing with his grandchildren.

It is our hope that you will remember him always with a smile on his face and his funny, easy going, light-hearted demeanor and his love of God.

Rocco is survived by his beautiful and devoted wife, Maria; his three children, Tina and her husband Peter, Teresa and her husband Enrique, and Vanessa; his grandchildren, Christa, Jordan, Alexa and Kiko, his siblings: Vincenzo and Sarina; and his nieces, nephews and countless cousins. He is predeceased by his parents, Concetta and Antonio Ciano; and his brothers, Carmelino, Giuseppe and Andrea.

Services will be held at Scanlan Funeral Home on Monday evening from 4pm to 8pm and a funeral Mass will be held 10 am on Tuesday at Holy Spirit R.C. Church.
