Obituary of Jones Mcekeni

Jones Mcekeni, 27, of Montville, passed away on December 6, 2021.

 

Jones was born on October 6, 1994 in Lusaka, Zambia. At 10 months old he moved to Cape Town, South Africa with his family. He started his education at Tyndale Christian School in Pretoria, South Africa. When the family moved to Germany, he was enrolled at Grundschule Groß-Buchholzer Kirchweg in Hannover, and thereafter to Freien Evangelischen Schule Hannover (FESH) for his middle primary school. In 2005 and 2006 he attended the Korean International School when the family relocated to Hong Kong. In 2007 he began his Middle School at Lazar Middle School in Montville, New Jersey until 2009 when he moved to Montville High School to complete his general education. Whilst at Montville High, Jones played American Football and soccer for the School team. He was also in the track team running the 100, 200 and 400 sprints. In 2013 he went on to study at Utica College (UC) a former Institution of Syracuse University where he studied Computer Science with a specialization in Cyber Security. At UC Jones was also on the School track team.

 

Jones was a uniter and always brought joy wherever he went.

 

Jones is survived by his parents, Isaac and Winfridah Mcekeni; his

sister, Evelyn Mcekeni; and his brother, Gershom Mcekeni as well as his many extended family members, friends and colleagues.

Family and friends may gather at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home from 7:00 to 9:00 pm Monday, December 13.  A funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 9:30 am Tuesday.  Interment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 225 Ridgedale Ave, East Hanover, NJ 07936

Thereafter a Repast will take place at Abundant Life Worship Center, 03 Jacksonville Rd, Lincoln Park, NJ 07035.
