Edward Bell, 95, of Wayne, died Thursday, January 6, 2022 following a brief illness.
Born in Clifton, Edward was the son of Joseph and Mary Bell. Most of his childhood was spent being raised on a farm in Pennsylvania, which Edward greatly enjoyed because he was able to live on a farm with lots of animals, whom he adored.
At the age of 18, Edward enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and proudly served his country during World War II. Following the war, he met Stella Fierro. The two were wed on June 19, 1949, and together settled in Haledon to raise their family.
Blessed with twin daughters, Edward was delighted to have a family of his own, and to be included into his wife's large italian family. Though he never learned to cook, he was lucky to never have to -- as he was surrounded by the wonderful cooks in his family, and always had a delicious meal in front of him. One of his greatest passions was making wine, a skill he learned from Stella's family.
Edward worked throughout his life with cars, as a mechanic, painter, and many other trades throughout the industry. He was most recently employed by Peugeot in Paterson, before retiring to the Venice Beach area of Florida.
Edward attributed his long life to his commitment to his health. He always made sure to eat well, excercise, and take care of himself, and leaned on holistic healing methods when he could. He was a calm and quiet man, but would open up and love to chat the night away once he got to know you.
Edward was dearly loved by his family, and will be sorely missed. He is lovingly survived by his daughters, Gail and Lynn Bell; his grandchildren, Michael Puglis, Janine Feola and her husband Neil, and Richard Iddriss; his great-grandson, Lucas Feola; his nieces, Amy, Susan, and Judy; and his nephews, Michael and David. He was predeceased by his wife, Stella.
Funeral services will be held privately for the family.
