Obituary of Laurie Fazal

Laurie Curry Fazal, 49 passed away unexpectedly on June 1, 2022 at Hackensack Medical Center after a short illness.

Born in Staten Island, NY, Laurie was the daughter of Michael and Donna Curry.  Laurie grew up in Lake Wallkill in Vernon, NJ with her twin sister and three brothers.  She went on to graduate from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Science in 1996. It was there she met her husband, Imtiaz.  They were married on July 9, 2007. One year later, Laurie gave birth to twins, Mikail and Sophia. Their family was complete when they welcomed their son Ayan in 2010. Laurie’s greatest joys were her children and she loved surrounding herself with family and friends. 

Laurie is survived by her husband, Imtiaz Fazal; her children Mikail, Sophia and Ayan; her parents, Michael and Donna Curry; her twin sister Lynn Bergman; her brothers and their wives, Michael and Alicia, Kevin and Megan, and Keith and Lisa Curry; her father-in-law, Mian Zafar Iqbal; her mother-in-law, Tahira Imtiaz; and 21 nieces and nephews.

Family and friends may visit from 4-8 pm on Monday, June 6, 2022 at M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Pompton Plains. Burial will follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Montclair.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Laurie’s memory can be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
