Obituary of Victor Meliti

Please share a memory of Victor to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Victor Meliti, a longtime resident of Pequannock, died Sunday, June 26, 2022. He was 84.

Born in Hackensack, Victor was one of eight children born to Frank and Mary Meliti. Raised in Little Ferry, he was educated there before enlisting in the Army at the age of 18.

After serving his country for two years, Victor returned home and entered the trades, working as a Mason alongside his brothers. He took great pride in his work, and greatly enjoyed working with his brothers for many years.  Victor and his brothers grew their business successfully through the years from their beginnings in residential masonry to commercial and industrial later on. He finally retired five years ago, but never really allowed himself to sit idle. Victor loved to work, and would stay busy in his backyard, landscaping and gardening it to perfection. When he was done with his own yard, he would head over to his church, the Wayne Seventh-day Adventist Church on Ratzer Road, to plant flowers and beautify the landscaping there.

Above all, though, Victor prized his beautiful family, and always put them first. He loved being with them, and was always playing with his grandkids and calling to find out what they were up to. Times spent down the shore with family were especially great memories for the Meliti family.

Victor was also a huge fan of the New York Yankees and the Giants. He loved rooting on his teams, and enjoyed that pastime with his family, as well.

Victor is lovingly survived by his wife, Francine; his children, Victor Anthony Meliti and his wife Janelle, Lisa Ann Ensley and her husband Peter, and Michael Paul Meliti and his wife Amalia; his sisters, Mary D'Ambrosio, Elena Realmonte, and Alice Vollender; his grandchildren, Victor Anthony III, Michael Andrija, Lauren Marie, Nicholas Alexander, Brian Joseph, Michael Alexander, and Matthew Jonathan; as well as his great-grandchildren, Giovani Anthony, Isabella Lynn, Madison Angela, and Luke Alexander.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Laura LaRosa, Frank Meliti, Salvatore Meliti, and Paul Meliti.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, July 5 from 1-3 and 6-9 pm at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held 10 am Wednesday, July 6 at Hawthorne Gospel Church in Hawthorne, NJ. Burial will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Waldwick SDA School, 70 Wyckoff Avenue, Waldwick NJ 07463 in Victor's memory would be greatly appreciated by his family.
