Obituary of Albert R Hayes

Albert R. Hayes “Al”, 76, of Pequannock passed away July 6, 2022.

Al was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY with his parents Vincent and Jean and his five brothers. He enlisted in the US Army after high school, where he fought in the Vietnam War. After his service, he returned home and ended up working with the USPS in Pompton Plains as a letter carrier for the next 35 years. He met his beloved wife Linda, and the two married March 10, 1974. They settled and raised their children in Pequannock, NJ. Al was proud to be a veteran, he joined the American Legion in Wayne. He enjoyed reading mystery novels, especially James Patterson books. He was a talented woodworker and loved making things for others as gifts. When he was able to, loved to paint ceramics.  

Al is survived by his wife Linda; his son Tom and his wife Joyce, his daughter Allison and her husband PJ and his daughter Brenda. He is survived by his grandchildren Thomas, Gunnar, Alexandra and Thor; his brothers Vincent, Thomas, Joseph and James. Al is predeceased by his brother Patrick.

Visitation will be held Friday July 8, 2022 from 4-7pm. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday July 9, 2022 at 10am at Lutheran Church of Our Saviour in Pompton Plains, NJ. Cremation is held privately. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Vietnam Veterans of America.
