Obituary of Elaine DeLade
Elaine DeLade, of Wanaque, NJ; Kinnelon, NJ; and Stuart, FL, passed away peacefully in her sleep on July 12, 2022. She was 86.
Elaine was the daughter of the late Mary and James Kennedy. She is survived by her sons, James and his wife Lynne, Michael and his fiancée Debbie Magee, John and his late wife Lynn, and Thomas and his wife Karen; her grandchildren, Dani, Kevin, Michael Jr., Jillian, Shannon, Gregory, Connor, Collin, Tracy, and Bradley; her great grandchildren, Shea, Olivia, Brynleigh, Dylan, Chase, and Lyric. She is predeceased by her husband Emil who passed away in August 2016.
She graduated from St. John’s Cathedral High School in Paterson, NJ in 1953 and received an RN degree from St. Joseph’s Hospital School of Nursing in Paterson, NJ in 1956. She worked as an ER and private practice nurse and helped to establish the DePaul Catholic High School volunteer school nurse program where she volunteered for many years.
Along with her husband, Elaine owned the Kinwood Inn in Kinnelon, NJ; the Butler News and Candy Shoppe and the Butler Appliance Store. She was also the director of Camp Grandma for many summers.
Elaine enjoyed spending winters in Stuart, FL, cruising the Caribbean with her husband, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Elaine was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was a faithful Catholic, and parishioner of Our Lady of the Magnificat in Kinnelon, NJ for many years.
A Mass will be held at 10 am on Monday, July 25 at Our Lady of the Magnificat RC Church in Kinnelon, NJ.
