Obituary of Helen Mueller

Please share a memory of Helen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Born in Passaic NJ to Tunis and Helen (McNair) Hagerdorn, Helen attended Passaic High School. Upon graduation she worked for the Quaker Rubber Company in New York City, before meeting her future husband Robert at a roller-skating rink. They married in 1952 and settled in Pompton Plains in 1955 where the couple lovingly raised six sons.

She left her career in the city to become a full-time homemaker, and was fully committed to her family. She was especially proud of her six boys, and attended an untold number of her children’s activities (especially softball games!) as they grew up.

Once her children were grown, she returned to the workforce as an executive secretary at Levco Associates in Wayne, NJ for many years before retiring.

Helen was a generous soul, never hesitating to help a relative or friend in need. She was an active member of The First Reformed Church of Pompton Plains, where she sang in the choir.

Helen was dearly loved by her family and will be sorely missed. She is survived by her husband of almost 70 years, Robert Sr.; her sons, Robert Jr. and his wife Camille; William and his wife Michele; James and his wife Lorna; Glenn and his wife Monica; Kevin, and Mark and his wife Tracey; her grandchildren Carly, Stephanie, William, Christina, Shawn, Katelin, Erica, Dorian, Scott, John and Joseph; and her great-grandchildren Haleigh, Abbigail, Ryan, and Nina. She was pre-deceased by her sister Edythe June.

Funeral services will be held privately for the family. Donations in lieu of flowers to The First Reformed Church of Pompton Plains would be greatly appreciated by the family.
