

Obituary of Thomas Vincent Healy
Thomas Vincent Healy, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2022, predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Alma Lee Healy.
Thomas was born in Boston, MA, on October 6, 1923. He was the last surviving middle child in a family of six sons (Maurice, Al, Joe, John, and Gerard) and a World War II Pacific Campaign 1st Marine Division veteran. Thomas, enlisted in the 1st Marine Division on August 21, 1941, and was a Private First-Class Marine, a Rifle Markman, and a Field Artillery crewman. He earned four campaign stars (Guadalcanal August 7, 1942, to December 9, 1942, and Cape Gloucester December 26, 1943, to May 5, 1944) and a presidential unit citation ribbon.
After World War II, Thomas met Alma Lee Billings on a blind date. Soon after, they were married in Lincoln Park, New Jersey, on July 5, 1953. Thomas started his business career at Shulton Inc., known as Old Spice, working in the warehouse. Thomas retired from American Cyanamid (formerly Shulton) as a pricing manager after more than 35 years of service. Thomas was a devout catholic, strong family man, and upstanding community member. He loved running, coaching, baseball, and family barbeques. He served as a role model to his children and grandchildren.
Thomas is survived by his seven children, Thomas (Karen), Mary Western (Jim), Brian (Marcy), Jim (Laurie), Chris (Jessica), Regina Benson (Ernie), and John (Julie), along with 13 grandchildren (James Western, Kristen Lazard, Samantha Kowalak, Sean Healy, Nicolas Goldreich, Nicole Hayes, Kaitlyn Benson, Patrick Healy, Ernie Benson Jr., Zen Rounds, Jack Healy, Ryan Healy, and Christopher Healy Jr.) and seven great-grandchildren.
Thomas, one of the last members of what some call the Greatest Generation, was loved by many and will be missed by all.

Visiting hours will be held from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Friday, August 5 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. A funeral Mass will be held 10:30 am Saturday at Holy Spirit RC Church, Pequannock. Interment will follow at First Reformed Church Cemetery, Pompton Plains. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions be sent to NJ Veteran Memorial Home in Paramus, 1 Veterans Drive, Paramus NJ 07652.
