Obituary of Lilo Hertz

Lilo Weber Hertz, our very sweet mom, passed away in her home at Cedar Crest on Thursday, August 4, 2022.

She was born in Bremen Germany on 2.27.1927 and moved to America in 1950. On the ship, she met our dad, John H. Hertz (10.8.1925-5.4.2007) and they married on 7.1.1952. They moved around some in New York and South Plainfield, NJ, but soon settled in Parsippany from 1965-1988 where they raised their 2 daughters, Jacqueline and Stephanie.

Mom was an avid bowler and card shark much of her life. She also had much curiosity in technology and went back to work in 1983 as a secretary where she eventually learned how to use a personal computer. She was also an iPhone and iPad user and texting, email, and online games such as Mah Jong quickly became her passion. She picked up the game of golf and played countless rounds at her country clubs in Florida and The Knoll East Golf Club in Parsippany with Stephanie and her grandson Anthony Lonero. Our mom and dad retired to Florida in 1988 and lived in Pompano Beach and Port St. Lucie. Mom moved back to NJ and spent her remaining years at Cedar Crest in Pompton Plains where she enjoyed many card games and even Wii Bowling.

Lilo is survived by her daughters: Jacqueline C. Lauer, her husband Dan, their children Jessica, and her husband Justin Lundy, and Ryan;  Stephanie M. Terrone, her husband Vinnie, her children Victoria, and her husband George Merrill and their children Finnley and Desmond, and Tony Lonero and his soon to be bride, Nargess Sharafi, her stepchildren Katie Terrone, Jamie Terrone, and Lucas Terrone.

A service will take place on Friday, August 12th at the Chapel at Cedar Crest at 11:00am.

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Amedisys Foundation in support of the Hospice care Lilo received over the past 13 months.  Checks can be sent to the agency at 500 International Drive, Suite 333, Budd Lake, NJ 07828.
