Born in Newark and raised in East Orange, Theresa was one of three children born to Frederick and Mary Dougherty. Upon graduating from Our Lady of the Valley High School in South Orange, Theresa began working on the Manhattan Project for Engelhardt Industries. It was there that she met William L. Horn and the two would later wed on May 8, 1954.
William and Theresa settled in Lincoln Park to raise their four children. She worked as an aid at Lincoln Park Nursing Home before becoming an LPN in 1970. She continued to provide nursing care until her retirement in 1986.
Theresa suffered many losses throughout her life but remained a pillar of strength for her family. She was known for her quick wit and great sense of humor and of course, her affinity for a good glass of scotch.

Theresa is survived by her sons, William P. Horn and his wife Kathy and Christopher Horn and his wife Debbie; her grandchildren, Christopher, Patrick, Bill, Samantha and Thersa; and her great grandson, Anthony. She was predeceased by her husband, William L. Horn; her daughters, Mary Lou Horn and Eileen T. Pascrell; her brothers, Frank and Fred; and her grandson, Michael.
