

Obituary of Josephine Astarita
Josephine Astarita passed away peacefully in her home on September 29, 2022. She lived her wonderful 92 years in Pompton Plains, Hillsdale, and New York City. Josephine’s life centered around her loving and selfless devotion to her family and her unwavering faith in her religion. She also enjoyed time with her many friends, celebrating holidays, old-time movies, and classic musical artists such as Tony Bennett. All who met her will agree that Josephine was the most sincere, thoughtful, and kindest person that they have ever met. We all miss her dearly.
Josephine leaves behind her beloved children Marilyn Stevenson and her husband Peter, Michael Astarita and his wife Jeannel, Diane Astarita, and Adrienne Slomkowski and her husband Hank. She was predeceased by her husband Michael, her son John, and her daughter Lucille Mangano. She also leaves behind her adoring grandchildren John, Michael, and Jason Astarita, Robert and Amy Mangano, Matthew Stevenson, Melanie Hayward, and Meryl Stevenson, Mark Michael and Julianna Astarita, Grace Astarita, Amanda, Kaylie, and Michelle Slomkowski as well as her beloved great-grandchildren Lola and Gwen Astarita, Violet, Roxanne, and Stella Astarita, Sophia Mangano, Matteo Kelly, Samuel and Nathaniel Stevenson, June and Max Hayward, and Zoe Meoli.
Services are being held at Cedar Crest Village Chapel, Pompton Plains, New Jersey. The wake will be on Sunday, October 2nd from 2-4:30pm and a funeral mass on Monday, October 3rd at 10am. Josephine will be buried at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, New Jersey. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a donation to Compassionate Care Hospice of Clifton, New Jersey.
