Obituary of Rowland Hubbard
Rowland Hubbard, longtime resident of Lincoln Park and most recently of Pompton Plains, passed away peacefully on Monday. He was 83. He will be remembered for being a hard-working man who loved to travel and landscape, and a gentleman who was devoted to his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Rowland was born in Ridgefield Park to Harry and Sally (nee Johnson) Hubbard on August 17, 1939.
He spent his youth in Little Ferry, where he met his beloved wife, Eda. They married two years after meeting and moved to Lincoln Park, where they lived for 50 years and raised their two children, Craig and Linda.
Rowland served in the Army Reserves and studied at Newark College of Engineering to prepare for his career at PSE&G, where he was never late and never took a sick day.
He was a true outdoorsman who loved tending to his garden, landscaping, and spending time on farms to admire cows, pheasants, and horses. Rowland loved to ski, especially at his home in the Poconos. He loved to watch all sports, especially high school and college games, and most especially when his grandkids and friends were competing.
Rowland recently celebrated a huge milestone: 60 years of marriage to his beloved Eda. Their commitment and love was admired by all who encountered them and was an inspiration for their family.
Rowland is survived by his wife Eda, his children Craig (Janice) and Linda Ferrigno (Rocco); his grandchildren Lorenzo (Pierce), Nicolette (Dominick), and Louis; his brother Richard (Michelina) and brother-in-law George (Fran). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, and friends. He is predeceased by his parents, mother- and father-in-law Bruno and Della, sister-in-law Marie, niece Donna, and nephew George.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
