Obituary of Robert Takacs

Robert "Bob" Takacs, of Riverdale, formerly of Clifton, died Friday, October 21, 2022. He was 60 years old. 

Born in Passaic, Bob was predeceased by his parents, Robert P. and Maryanne Takacs. Raised in Clifton, he graduated from Clifton High School. 

Marrying Cynthia Chudzik in 1989, the couple lived briefly in Clifton before settling in Riverdale thirty years ago. There, they raised a son and a daughter. 

Bob held a thirty year career with Axelrod Food in Paterson, where he was proud to work as a Shop Steward for Teamsters Local 863. 

Bob was a proud family man, and was happiest when he was spending time with them at the beach in Wildwood. He also loved to flyfish, a sport he learned from his father. He spent many beautiful days casting in the waters of the Flatbrook and the Musconetcong Rivers of New Jersey. 

Bob was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings, even though they never game him a Super Bowl win. Despite that, he wore purple and gold proudly every season as he rooted them on.

Bob is lovingly survived by his wife, Cynthia; his children, Robert A. and Caitlyn Takacs; his sisters, Lisa Legath and her husband Mark, and Doreen LaSpata and her husband Sal; his nephes, Michael, Daniel  and Stephen Legath; as well as his sister-in-law, Kathi Chudzik; and brothers-in-law, Bobby and Rich Chudzik. 

Visiting hours will be held 4-7 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be held 10 am Thursday at St. Mary's RC Church, Pompton Lakes. Burial will follow Mass at St. Mary's Cemetery in Saddle Brook.
