Obituary of Suzanne Szvetecz
Suzanne Szvetecz, 77, of Montville, NJ passed away peacefully on November 18th, 2022. Suzanne was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and wife.
Suzanne was born in Savar, Hungary and immigrated to the United States with her family in the 1950s when she was twelve. While living in Manhattan, she met her future husband, Jeno, at St. Stephen of Hungary Church. They married in 1964 and spent ten years in the city, where they worked multiple jobs and started a family. In 1975, they bought their first home in Suffern, NY, where they raised their two sons, Tom and David, proudly sending both to college. Suzanne herself graduated high school and, later, beauty school. She started her career in the beauty industry, first as a hairdresser, then as a salon owner, and later as a cosmetologist for Clinique at Macys. She was a spunky woman, full of beauty and class, who always made others feel good about themselves. Her passions included bowling, dancing the Csardas with Jeno, cooking traditional Hungarian meals (especially Palacsinta), shopping, spending quality time with her family, and spoiling her two beautiful grandchildren who were her pride and joy. Suzanne will always be remembered for her hospitality, her fashion sense, and for filling every room she entered with laughter and joy.
Suzanne joins her beloved husband Jeno, who predeceased her in 2011. She is survived by her children, Tom and David Szvetecz; daughters-in-law, Mary Ann and Christina; and her two grandchildren, Sarah and Mark. She is also survived by her brother, James Szanto, and her many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Imre and Ilona Szanto; her sister Eva and husband John Petho; and her brothers, Tibor and Nicholas Szanto and Nicholas’s wife Julia.
