Obituary of Agnes M Kozubal
Agnes M. Kozubal, 96 of Wayne, formerly of Union, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2022.
Born in Portage Township, PA, a tiny farm town outside of Johnstown, the family then moved to Jersey City when she was about 7 years old.
She was one of 6 children born to Andrew and Susan Lesko. She was a parts tester for Western Electric in Kearney, and it was there she met her husband, Stanley Kozubal. The couple settled in Union where they raised their three children.
Agnes was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a devout Catholic. She prayed the rosary several times a day and had a strong faith. She moved to the Bristal in Wayne in 2020 and quickly made many friends. She participated in many of the daily activities, including arts and crafts, bingo, bus trips and especially daily exercise class, which she did up until the day before she passed.
Agnes is lovingly survived by her children, Carol Hughes and husband John Donohue, William Kozubal, and Janice Albers; her grandchildren, Ryan Hughes and Eric and Amanda Cuesta; and her twin sister Irene Thomas as well as her nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Stanley, her brothers, Andrew, John and Michael Lesko, and her sister, Helen Domaracki.
We would like to extend our sincere thanks to the nurses, aides and all the staff at The Bristal at Wayne for enriching her life these last two and a half years, and especially for the kindness and compassion they showed her at the end. And a special thanks to Valley Hospice, especially her nurse Melanie—a true angel!
Memorial visitation will be held from 2 to 5 pm Sunday, December 4th at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 am Monday December 5th at St. Mary’s RC Church, Pompton Lakes.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Valley Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Hospital would be appreciated by the family.
