Obituary of Diane E. Parr
Diane E. Parr, a longtime resident of Pequannock, died Monday, December 12, 2022 following a brief illness. She was 77.
Born in Glen Ridge, Diane was the daughter of Erik and Marie Fredlund. Raised in Bloomfield, she attended school there. While at a friend's birthday party at the age of 16, she met Roger Parr. The two fell in love quickly, and continued dating throughout high school.
When Diane left New Jersey to attend Misericordia College in Pennsylvania, Roger thought nothing of driving all the backroads out to visit her in his blue and white Chevy convertible. Though it took him nearly five hours each way, he was happy to make the drive to spend time with the love of his life.
Diane and Roger were married on September 19, 1965, and lived in an apartment in Bloomfield before settling into their first home in Glen Ridge, where they started their family. In 1977, they moved to Pequannock Township, where they have lived ever since.
A mother of four beautiful children, Diane worked hard to care for her family. Throughout her career, she worked in several jobs throughout the area, retiring from State Farm in Parsippany as a records storage clerk.
Diane was a strong, confident woman who never shied from sharing her opinion or letting those she loved know how she felt. She adored her four grandchildren, and would do anything in the world for them. She had a special way of adding her special touch to wrapped packages, or special homemade gifts. She had a natural talent and appreciation for beauty, and constructed wedding bouquets out of silk flowers for a time. Diane always put all she had into what she did, and those around her knew they were loved.
Diane loved to spend her time in the casinos of Atlantic City, and could often be found playing the slots there. When she couldn't be down the shore, she'd buy scratch-off lottery tickets, always hoping to win it big.
Throughout their 57 year marriage, Diane and Roger had many special trips together to the Caribbean, Disney World, and most importanly, Sanibel Island. Times spent there will always hold a special place in the hearts of the Parr family.
Diane is lovingly survived by her husband, Roger; her children, Roger Parr Jr. and his wife Lisa, Christopher Parr and his wife Cynthia, and Annmarie Hague and her husband Albert; and her grandchildren, Christian, Brady, Zoë, and Lydia. She was predeceased by her daughter, Danielle, and her brother, John.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday from 4-8 pm at the funeral home. A funeral Mass will be held 10 am Friday at Holy Spirit Church, Pequannock. Burial will follow at the First Reformed Church Cemetery, Pompton Plains.
