Obituary of Giuseppa Aparo
Giuseppa Aparo, 81, passed away January 4, 2023.
Giuseppa was born in Siracusa, Sicily to Paolo and Paola Barbagallo. She met her late husband Carmelo in Paterson at a wedding. They were married in 1964 and later settled in Pequannock where they raised their three children.
Giuseppa was a social woman who loved to be around people. She cared for her family and always put their needs before her own. As she got older, she appreciated the love and care her family provided her with and cherished the time they could all be together. She was devoted to her faith and was an active parishioner at Holy Spirit Church, and loved immersing herself in a good book or doing crafts. She also loved a good round of Left, Right, Center at the holiday gatherings. She was part of the Columbianettes of Pequannock and especially got excited to be involved in the Fourth of July parades in town. She was a kind hearted soul that never said anything bad about anyone. She would always find herself on an adventure with her family, and always wanted to be invited and involved. She had the "Fear of Missing Out" (FOMO). Aside from the family nearby, she would still find time to travel to Canada to visit her siblings and nieces.
Giuseppa is survived by her son, Paul Aparo; her daughters, Liliana Morgan and Rita Morgan and her husband Craig; her brother, Vito Barbargallo and her sister, Conceetta Barbargallo-Pellicone; and her grandchildren, Kevin, Jason, Miranda, and Brian Morgan. She was predeceased by her husband, Carmelo.
Visiting hours will be held from 4 to 8 pm Tuesday, January 10 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. A funeral Mass will be held 11am Wednesday January 11 at Holy Spirit RC Church, Pequannock. Interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre, Totowa NJ.
