

Obituary of Filomena C. O'Shea
Filomena C. O'Shea, known to most as "Emma," died Friday, January 6, 2023 at Overlook Hospital in Summit.
Born in Manila, Philippines, Emma was the eldest of six children born to Simeon and Maxima Deguzman. Raised in Manila, she attended college there and started her career as a librarian before moving to the United States in 1978.
Emma held a career in the ICU at Chilton Memorial Hospital for more than 25 years, and was lovingly known to her coworkers and friends as "Mommy Em." She was deeply caring, and very committed to her job. She will be dearly missed by the many she worked with over her long career.
Marrying Brian O'Shea in 2000, the couple lived in Elmwood Park before moving to Lincoln Park in 2004.
Emma's favorite pastime was always shopping. She had a flair for all things beautiful and classy. She also found much pleasure in watching her hallmark movies. She would get a big burst of energy every time she spends time with family and friends.
Emma is lovingly survived by her husband, Brian; her siblings, Malou, Marcelo, Andy and Ildy Deguzman ; the O'Shea and Hillman family ; nephews and nieces and grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, Cheng Deguzman.
A memorial Mass will be held 10 am Friday, January 13th St. Joseph's RC Church, 216 Comly Road, Lincoln Park. Interment of ashes will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Totowa.
