Obituary of John Rawa

John Rawa, Jr. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, surrounded by his loving family, at the age of 66.

Born and raised in the Ironbound Section of Newark, John lived in East Rutherford, NJ for several years before he and his wife, Laura Ann moved to Pequannock, NJ in 2002.  John retired as an Armed Security Guard at the Newark Municipal Building, as well as other locations in the Newark area.  He was also employed in the trucking and transportation industry for many years.

John was a huge New York Yankees and Dallas Cowboys fanatic.  He was also into Classic Rock and enjoyed playing softball in company league games.  But most of all, John just loved being with his family, and they loved being with him.

John is survived by his wife, Laura Ann Rawa (nee Cicchino), along with their two daughters, Leanne Sheldrick and Lisa Rawa; and five grandchildren, Summer, Christopher, Zachary and Skye Sheldrick, and Dylan Rawa.  John is also survived by his three sisters, Loretta Cullen, Joanne Keslicka, Theresa Galante, his Sister in-law Diane Rawa, his Brother in-law Rudy Cicchino, Sister in-law Anita Cicchino, and Brother in-law Albert Cicchino. He is predeceased by his two brothers, Walter and Anthony Rawa.

Cremation was held under the direction of M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains, New Jersey.
