Sean “John Michael” Caulfield passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, January 10th, 2023. He was 81.
Born in Dublin Ireland, Sean came to this country in 1980 to marry the love of his life, Virginia. While in Ireland, Sean was a Master Sargeant in the Irish Army and was a trumbone player in the Band of the Southern Command. He was a member of the Cork Symphony Orchestra and performed in the famous traveling band, the Vards. Sean and Virginia met in Ireland while he was performing at a local concert and she was visiting Ireland. Virginia regularly received letters from Sean when she returned to the United States. She decided to marry him, and the two settled in Pompton Plains where they lived joyfully together.
Sean is survived by his dear wife Virginia V. Caulfield (nee Ciaramella). He is also survived by his three daughters, Janette Dunlea, Yvonne O’Keeffe and Elaine Bradley; his four grandchildren, Danielle, Nicole, Dayna and Taylor; and two great-grandchildren, Heidi and Kodie. He also leaves behind two brothers, Ken Caulfield and Jim Caulfield; and his three sisters, Rosemary Kingdon, Betty O'Grady and Colette Lakes
A private service was held under the direction of the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains, NJ
