Obituary of Charles Dunne

Charles T. Dunne, 63, of Pompton Lakes passed away on January 12, 2023.

Charles, Charlie as most knew him, was born in Westwood, NJ to Francis and Agnes Dunne and grew up in Emerson, NJ. Charlie was a self-employed carpenter and renovator by trade, but in all matters of life, a genuine people person. He could strike up a conversation with anyone…and would. He was an avid Jets fan and enjoyed playing golf with family and friends. Sweet in nature and tooth, he had a way of making anyone feel welcome and comfortable. Charlie was outgoing but humble to never be the center of attention, unless trying to produce a smile from a loved one. He made and remained close with many wonderful friends throughout his life. What he cherished the most in life was his family and being able to spend time with them. He always put his family first and was a proud grandfather to his 6 grandchildren.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife Dawn; his children Brandon Dunne and his wife Amanda, Wesley Dunne and his wife Stephanie and Ashley Hershberger and her husband Braucht; his brothers Frank and William Dunne; his sister Eileen Bennett; and his grandchildren Claire, Charles, Amelia, Caleb, Ethan and Sheila. Charlie was predeceased by his sister Diane Bergamo.

A memorial visitation will be held at M. John Scanlan Funeral Home on Friday, January 20, 2023 from 5-7pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating in his memory to St. Barnabas Oncology Department (www.cbmcgiving.com), or a favorite charity of your choice.
