Jan and I were related through marriage. Her son, Fred, and my daughter, Lisa, were married in 1998. We became good friends and frequently went out socially together with our mutual friend, Pat Black. I especially enjoyed hiking with Jan who was a Trail Master in Harriman State Park. We would pack a picnic lunch and sit up at the top of the mountain enjoying nature. What I admired most about her is her curiosity about all things especially historical. We would be visiting a museum or on a tour of a historical house and Jan would spend considerable time perusing items of interest. She also had a green thumb and a lovely garden. RIP dear friend.
