Obituary of Katherine Ann Paynton

Please share a memory of Katherine to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Katherine Ann Paynton, 81, a longtime resident of Lincoln Park, died Thursday, January 19, 2023.

Born in Passaic, Katherine was the daughter of Donald and Katherine Smith. Raised in Clifton, she was a graduate of Clifton High School, and went on to study at Fairleigh Dickinson University.

While working at Federal Leather in Clifton, she met William Paynton, and in 1961, they married.

Settling in Lincoln Park, Katherine lovingly raised two sons. In the late 1970s, she returned to the workforce, and was employed as a Bank Executive for Wells Fargo Bank in Totowa for many years. After retiring, she continued to work for a financial planning office in Montville.

Katherine was a quiet woman, who kept a close group of friends around her. She enjoyed nothing more than being with her family, and was a truly devoted mother to her boys. She was a great listener, and a dear friend.

Katherine is lovingly survived by her sons, Donald and William, her brother, Donald Smith, and her husband, William.

Memorial visitation will be held Friday, January 27th from 3-7 pm at the funeral home. A service of rememberance will take place at 6:30 pm to conclude the visitation period.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Katherine's memory to the Parkinson's Foundation would be greatly appreciated by her family:
