Obituary of Robert Joseph Liggio

Please share a memory of Robert to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

Robert J. Liggio, 84, of Cedar Crest Village and formerly of Elmsford, NY, passed away on March 12, 2023.

Born in New York City, Bob was the son of the late Joseph and Antoinette Liggio. He married Eleanor Pocorobba in 1969 and the couple settled in Elmsford before moving to Cedar Crest Village in 2017. Bob was a renaissance man who could build or fix anything. He and Eleanor traveled often and enjoyed many trips throughout their marriage, including cruises, visiting over 100 National Parks, and family cross country road trips. While at Cedar Crest, Bob was involved in the Train Club, horseshoe tournaments (winner of the Horseshoe Competition 2021), bocce ball, billiards, and poker. He was an avid outdoorsman who found peace and solace in nature. He was a lover of animals who enjoyed bird watching so much that he put up bluebird houses around the Cedar Crest campus. He also made a turtle log and put it in the pond near the chapel so the turtles would have a spot to sunbathe. He enjoyed hiking and created a trail in the woods, affectionately called "The Bob-Along Trail" by other residents. He truly made the world a better place and will be missed by all who knew him.

Bob is lovingly survived by his wife of over 53 years, Eleanor; his children, Elizabeth, Christine, John (Barbara), and Janine (Ronan); and his grandchildren, Emily (Kevin), John, Katie, Matthew, and Benjamin.

Funeral services were held privately. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bob's memory to the Cedar Crest Resident Care Fund would be greatly appreciated by his family.
