Thomas Torre, Jr., 67, of Pompton Plains, passed away suddenly on January 29, 2018 at his home.
Tom was born on June 26, 1950 in Hackensack to Thomas and Millie Torre. He grew up in Garfield, among his parents and five sisters. At the age of 18, Tom proudly joined the US Air Force. In 1992, he married Leticia Reyes; the couple lived in Lincoln Park before building a home in Pompton Plains in 2005. Professionally, Tom was a project manager for IBM and UPS, but was an all-around handyman for many. He was able to help with anything from plumbing and electrical work to computer problems and anything in-between; he was truly dedicated to helping everyone around him through his work and touched the lives of many people.
Tom is survived by his wife of 26 years, Leticia; his daughter, Jamie Lynn; his sister Nancy Megaro and husband Tony, sister Angie Mulé and husband Vince, sister Lorraine Lach and husband Bob, sister Carol Hagen, and sister Linda Ferullo and husband Andre; and his many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by both his parents and brother-in-law, Doug Hagen.
Visiting hours will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pmFriday, February 2 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. A Funeral Mass will be held 10 amSaturday at Our Lady of Good Counsel RC Church, Pompton Plains. Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Cemetery, Lodi.
