Jack J. Davies, 97, of Kinnelon, passed away on May 8, 2018.
Born on July 25, 1920 in Utica, NY to Stuart Davies and Thelma Briggs, Jack grew up in Kew Gardens, NY. He spent many summers helping out on the family farm in Sullivan County, NY.
Jack had a storied career, having worked with General Motors, Grumman Aircraft, Carrier Air Conditioning and Montgomery Engineering, retiring in 1987. While with Carrier, Jack was holding a sales meeting at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles when he met a beautiful young woman vacationing at the Hotel. That chance encounter brought him 50 years of happiness. His loving wife, Eileen Davies, predeceased him in 2014.
Jack's career allowed him to travel extensively. His love of photography enabled the rest of us to share in those travels. Very rarely was Jack seen without a camera around his neck.
Jack is survived by his two devoted daughters: Kathy Davies of Cold Spring, NY and Donna Davies of Kinnelon, NJ; his loving sister Lorraine Knopf and brother-in-law Christopher Knopf of Santa Monica, CA; many adoring nieces and nephews, and loving cousins from Long Island and Rhode Island.
Visiting hours will be from 4-8 pm on Friday in the Msgr. Ryan Room at Our Lady of the Magnificat RC Church, Kinnelon. A funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 am on Saturday at OLM church and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Boys Town, a charity close to his heart, would be greatly appreciated by the family.
