Grace Elizabeth "Betty" Barrett, 92, a lifelong resident of Pequannock, passed away peacefully at home on October 29, 2018.
The daughter of the late Thomas and May Lowe, Betty graduated from Butler High School and later earned her bachelor's in education from Trenton State Teacher's College. She taught for many years in Pequannock Twp. schools. She was an active member of the First Reformed Church, where she taught Sunday School, and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a volunteer for Dial-A-Ride.
Betty is survived by her children, John Barrett, Jane Rochacewicz, Jeff Barrett, Jill Heck, and Joan Oliphant; her grandchildren, Taryn MacKenzie, Kristin Brown, Kerianne Linn, Thomas Barrett and James Barrett; and her great grandchildren, Matthew Brown, Kailynn Brown, Tyler MacKenzie and William Linn. She was predeceased by her husband, John and her sister, May Lowe Babcock Jackovics.
Visiting hours will be held from 5 to 8 pm Friday, November 2 at the M. John Scanlan Funeral Home, Pompton Plains. A funeral service will be held 11 am Saturday at the funeral home. Cremation will be private. www.scanlanfuneral.com
