Bruce Paul Ballard, 65, of Butler, died at home Sunday, November 4, 2018.
Born in Berkley, CA, Bruce was the son of Carl and Veronica Ballard. The family moved to Little Rock, Arkansas, when Bruce was young, and he spent much of his youth there. The family later moved to Brooklyn, NY, and finally to Butler, where Bruce graduated from high school in 1971.
It was while Bruce was a student at Butler High School that he was introduced to Deborah Wood, a student at neighboring Pequannock High School. The sweethearts would date for four years before marrying on October 25, 1975.
Bruce studied Film Making at Rutgers University before embarking on a career in Photography. He later became employed as a Sales Manager for Form Cut Industries in Newark, where he worked for more than 38 years.
Together, Bruce and Deborah raised a daughter, Erin. Blessed with his beautiful wife and his adored daughter, Bruce was a happy man. They were everything to Bruce. He was a devoted husband, and he cherished his little girl. When Erin welcomed her own child two years ago, Bruce was delighted. His grandson Jack made him the happiest he had ever been.
Bruce was a handy guy, and in the rare spare time he had, enjoyed fixing up his home in Butler, bringing it from a true "fixer upper" to the comfortable family home that was so enjoyed by the Ballards. He also greatly enjoyed the Jersey shore with his family, especially LBI, and was a longtime cheerleader of his alma mater, the Butler Bulldogs.
Bruce is lovingly survived by his wife of 43 years, Deborah; his daughter, Erin Kaminetsky and her husband Eric; his brothers, Steven Ballard and Scott Ballard; his grandson, Jack Kaminetsky; as well as the loving extended family he married into.
Visiting will be held Thursday from 5-8 pm at the funeral home. Cremation will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Bruce's memory would be greatly appreciated by the Ballard family.
