Glenn Burek, 60, a longtime resident of Kinnelon, died Thursday, November 22, 2018.
Born in Passaic, Glenn was raised in Oakland. A graduate of Indian Hills High School, he went on to study business and play football for Ramapo College. Glenn went on to spend his career in sales, working first in the healthcare industry, and most recently was employed by Corporate Technologies in Fairfield.
Marrying Lynn Angelica in 1986, the couple settled in Kinnelon, where they raised a son and a daughter. Glenn was very involved with his children while they were growing up, and was instrumental in Football and Lacrosse programs through Kinnelon Recreation as director and devoted coach. He also was a NJSIAA lacrosse official and an avid outdoorsman.
Glenn was also a longtime parishioner of Our Lady of Magnificat RC Church in Kinnelon, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #14493.
In 2007, Glenn was inducted into the Ramapo College Hall of Fame for his contributions as a linebacker during his college tenure. There, Glenn had received honors as a 1st Team National Collegiate Football Assocation All-American and was also named Outstanding Defensive Player of the Year.
Glenn is lovingly survived by his wife of 32 years, Lynn; his parents, Joseph & Joan Burek; his children, Jaclyn Alesandro and her husband Michael, and Joseph Burek; his brother, Mark Burek and his wife Lisa; his brother-in-law, Michael Angelica; his grandson, Troy Alesandro; and his nieces, Sydney, Phoebe and Karli.
Visiting hours will be Sunday from 4-8 pm at Our Lady of Magnificat Church, 2 Miller Road, Kinnelon. A funeral Mass will be held 11 am Monday, also at the church. Cremation will be private.
