Obituary of Andrew Steven Borinski

Andrew Steven Borinski, 74, of Kinnelon, died at home Sunday, December 30, 2018.

Born in Paterson, Andrew was the son of John and Jean Borinski. Raised on the family farm in Lincoln Park, he was a 1962 graduate of DePaul Catholic High School. He went on to study Business & Marketing at the University of Dayton in Ohio, where he met and fell in love with Carol Scheetz. The two married in 1967, living first in Lake Hiawatha before moving to Kinnelon in 1970.

Together, Andrew and Carol raised three children in Kinnelon. Andrew held a 30 year career as a Produce Buyer for Grand Union, though his heart always stayed on the farm. In retirement, he never truly retired, for he returned to his beloved tractor on the family farm in Lincoln Park, now being run by the fourth generation of Borinskis. Andrew's grandchildren loved to find their grandfather on the farm, especially when they would get to join him on gator rides in the dirt and mud.

Andrew's family will always remember his devotion to his family -- whether it be as a committed father accompanying his sons on Boy Scout trips and other activities, or his pure delight in time spent with his grandchildren. They smile and laugh reminiscing about "Sunday drives" to the onion farms of black dirt country, which always seemed to lure him north on a quiet day. He was a simple man, who took pride in his home and always wanted to fix everything himself, and who would find quiet enjoyment in watching the Giants play football each season.

Andrew is lovingly survived by his wife, Carol; his children, Drew and his wife Danguole, Chris and his wife Virginia, and Maribeth and her husband John Tremblay; his grandchildren, Maggie, Ryan, JohnConnor, Caroline and Ignas; and his brother, John Borinski and his wife Joan.

Visiting hours will be Thursday from 4-8 pm at the funeral home. Funeral services will begin 9 am Friday at the funeral home and will proceed to a 10 a.m. Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Magnificat Church, Kinnelon. Burial will follow in the church's cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Triboro First Aid Squad, 10 High Street, Butler NJ 07405 or Our Lady of Magnificat Church, 2 Miller Road, Kinnelon NJ 07405 in Andrew's memory would be greatly appreciated by the Borinski family.
