John Hugh Stickley died peacefully on January 28, 2019, following complications related to lymphoma treatments. John was born on November 23, 1968 in Ossining, NY. John leaves behind his loving mother Elizabeth Stickley of Vero Beach, FL, beloved wife Amy Israel Stickley, daughter Jenna Zipora Stickley and son Andrew Noble Stickley of Kinnelon, NJ, son Casey Lovetere of Long Island, NY, and many other family members and friends.
John is a graduate of SUNY Cobleskill. His interest in horticulture led him to a successful career in landscape design and construction. Following 20+ years in the industry, John founded Evergreen Landscape & Design in Butler, NJ, in 2008.
John's greatest loves were his family and friends. He will be remembered most for his keen intelligence, business savvy, sharp wit, endearing charisma, and passion for sports and music.
He enjoyed coaching Kinnelon youth softball and football teams and attending professional football and hockey games.A music aficionado, John enjoyed live music events and listened most to his favorite band, The Grateful Dead. In John's memory, we reflect on a line from the song Ripple – "Let there be songs to fill the air."
The family will receive visitors on Thursday, Jan. 31 (1 p.m. – 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 9 p.m.) and on Friday, Feb. 1 from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. at the family's home. A private service will be held for immediate family only.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the John Theurer Cancer Center in Hackensack, NJ.
