Obituary of Thomas J. Bluteau

Thomas Bluteau, 65, of Stockholm, formerly of Pequannock, died Sunday, April  14, 2019.

Born in Queens, NY, Thomas was one of three children born to Robert and Marie Bluteau. Raised in Queens, he was a graduate of Christ the King High School there.

Moving with his family to Lake Tamarack in Stockholm, NJ, in 1970, Thomas soon met Heidi Childs, and the two quickly fell in love. They dated throughout Thomas’ college years, where he studied Social Work at Ramapo College. He went on to earn his Masters from Hunter College in NYC, and in August of 1977, he and Heidi wed.

The couple welcomed two children, John and Lise, and in 1986, moved to Pequannock Township, where they raised their children. Thomas supported his family as a Family Therapist, working for more than 30 years out of his office in Teaneck.

Thomas and Heidi returned to Lake Tamarack in 2013, greatly enjoying the “lake life” that community offered. Thomas loved sailing, paddle boarding, fishing and most of all, swimming. He was a guy who had to keep moving – and even through his sickness would get workouts in on his stationary bike.

He is lovingly survived by his wife, Heidi; his son, John and his wife Corinne; his sister, Jeanne Mazza; and his grandchildren, Madelyn, Henry, Nathan and Donovan. He was predeceased by his daughter, Lise, and his brother, Edward.

A memorial Mass will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, May 4 at St. Mary’s R.C. Church, Pompton Lakes.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Karen Ann Quinlan Hospice, 99 Sparta Avenue, Newton, NJ 07860 in Thomas’ memory would be greatly appreciated by the Bluteau family.
