Monday, August 19, 2019I was just retelling to dear friends my fond memories of Mr. Mazza and the tremendous influence he had on my life. It was his AP English class senior year at Ramapo HS that opening my eyes to the excitement of the spoken word and to serious academic study. I still recall his comment, "A 3 legged-stool is never JUST a 3 legged-stool" (from T. Hardy, The Return of the Native). He will forever be in my heart as the most influential teacher I ever had.

Monday, August 12, 2019I am so sorry for your loss of this great man. He had enough faith in me to hire me as one of his English teachers. The advice and guidance he gave me throughout my career were life changing. I have so much respect for him. At my retirement party he gave me a book of poetry with a heartfelt inscription. It sits on my coffee table and will continue to be there to remind me of this incredible man.

Monday, August 12, 2019Mr. Mazza is my favorite teacher of all time, Kindergarten to Master's Degree. He opened my mind and capabilities to see and feel the world in more dimensions than I had known before. He also taught me the joy of not knowing -- of wondering, imagining and asking questions, and the confidence to soak up sensory input and form enriched viewpoints. He was so energetically affirmative of my development in his class, that I wanted to keep growing to appreciate and interact helpfully in the world even when not in his classroom, and for many years beyond, to this day. I think of him all the time, but he is with me Constantly in my interactions in my home, my community and the wider world. Thank you, Mr. Mazza. Your greatness endures -- vigorously -- in so many ways.

Sunday, August 11, 2019I am very sorry for your loss. Mr Mazza was one of my favor teachers at Ramapo. He was so enthusiastic and really encouraged us all to participate on a deeper level. I was able to see him now and then since he was a good friend of my mother’s, Irene Montella. I still have the book of candid photos he gave to us as a present after our wedding. My prayers are with all of you. Liz

Tuesday, August 6, 2019My deepest sympathies to the Mazza family on your loss. Mr. Mazza was my teacher for honors English at Ramapo High School in 1975. He was one of those rare unforgettable teachers who had such an impact on our young adult minds. He was so engaging and enthusiastic. He instilled a life long love of reading in myself and I'm sure so many others. May he rest in peace.
