Obituary of Gerald A Hallisey
Gerald Andrew Hallisey of Pompton Plains died on Monday, September 2, 2019, a week before his 82nd birthday. He was surrounded by family, which was how he liked it best.
Known for his charm, humor, generosity, love of education, and passion for the NY Giants, Jerry was loved by all who knew him. He grew up in Lyndhurst, NJ, where he met his beloved wife of 58 years, Judy. After graduating from Lyndhurst High School in 1955, he served in the Navy and then went on to graduate from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 1962. Always a hard worker, Jerry had a successful career selling stainless steel and was lucky to have co-workers who were also close friends.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Judy, and their four daughters and three sons-in-law: Noreen and Kenneth McCaffrey; Patti Hallisey; Kelley and Paul Santini; and Beth and Scott Kupchinsky. He is also survived by his 12 grandchildren, whom he adored with all his heart, his sister Pat Kopp, sister-in-law Doris Hallisey, and brother-in-law Richard Afflitto. Jerry and Judy’s son, Michael Hallisey, passed away in 2013. Jerry is also pre-deceased by his brothers Donald, Jack, and Richard Hallisey, and his sister, Mary Ellen Afflitto.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, a condition he struggled with the last several years.
Visitation will be on Friday at M. John Scanlan Funeral home (3-7 PM) and a funeral Mass will be on Saturday at 11 AM at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Pompton Plains, NJ.
