Gertrud "Trudy" Lees, 87, of Pompton Plains, died Friday, October 4, 2019.
Born in Manheim, Germany, Trudy was raised there, surviving through the worst of times during World War II. Meeting an American soldier during the war, she immigrated to the United States following the war, settling in Pompton Plains and bearing a son, James.
Trudy's first marriage ended in divorce, and she was soon introduced to George Lees at a Memorial Day picnic. Though she first blew him off, he persisted, and the two quickly fell in love. At the First Reformed Church in Pompton Plains on September 23, 1984, they married, and have lived happily ever after ever since.
Trudy is lovingly survived by her husband, George, and her son, James Allen Dunn.
Visiting hours will be Monday from 1-4 pm at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held 11 am Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at the First Reformed Church Cemetery, Pompton Plains.
